Volunteers at the HFH Lima ReStore
Juna
Konst is a partner family in our affiliate having built a house with
us in 1995. In the picture (right) Juna cleans shelves of
items in the ReStore. This is her way, she said, of expressing
her gratitude to Habitat and all who helped her become a homeowner
at age 75! Increased health concerns as she is in her 8th
decade keep her from volunteering any more.
As a volunteer in the Restore Juna did much more than express her gratitide--she also helped our affiliate build more houses. On a limited income she cannot donate financially to the affiliate. However, by donating time, she made it possible for the ReStore to be clean and neat, a place for customers to come and feel comrforable as they shop. As a volunteer, she helped reduce expenes in the ReStore operation meaning more of the proceeds could go to financing houses.
Volunteers are the backbone of all Habitat for Humanity affiliates and our affiliate is no execption. As a primary funding source the ReStore maximizes the amount of its funding for houses by offering persons like Juna the opportunity to help increase the ReStore proceeds. Juna took her bucket and rag and cleaned throughout the ReStore. There are many other opportuntities to serve as a volunteer in the ReStore.
- Cashier (background check will be done before)
- Office Assistant (doing coorespondence, data entry, mailings, and other tasks)
- Public Relations (working with advertising, setting up displays, helping plan special events)
- Truck driving (picking up donations; delivering items purshased)
- Donations (cleaning, sorting, pricing, and shelving items)
- Sales (in-store customer service)
- Committee member (ReStore Committee; special task forces as needed)
How to volunteer...
- Call the ReStore office (419) 222-4257 and speak to the Store Manager who coordinates volunteers.
- Download the ReStore Volunteer Interest Form, print, complete and drop it off or mail it to the ReStore at 550 W. Elm St., Lima, OH 45801-4730. You will be contacted to set up times to volunteer.
- Just show up and say you are ready to work!
The ReStore staff appreciates those who can commit themselves to a regular weekly shift of 2 hours or more to help staff the ReStore more effeciently and consistently. However, if you can only volunteer occasionally you are welcome! All can serve and make their contribution to the misison of Habitat for Humanity-Lima Area, INc.!
